I’ve stayed at over 175 Harvest Host locations around the US and Canada and have had so many great experiences: the hosts, the locations, the hospitality/generosity. It’s been wonderful being part of the HH program. That said, one of my favorite stays and adventure was at  Parachute Montreal South Shore. Harvest Host Parachute Montreal I was up in northern Maine and thought Parachute Montreal would be a neat place to stay and watch the skydivers. I had no intention of partaking in the skydiving as I am a bit afraid of heights. But as is typical for me, plans change. About a week before my planned arrival at Parachute Montreal, I changed my mind and booked a jump time. No backing out now. Find my device - I'll admit I've lost/misplaced my devices more than once since I've been traveling full-time. Usually it's my iPhone, but I've also needed to locate my iPad and MacBook on a few occasions.  This app has saved me many times. AllTrails - This is my goto app for finding and navigating trails. You can search for trails in your local area or just about anywhere. You can download your trails to use off-line, it keeps you on track while on the trail, and provides stats while you're hiking. Goodnotes  -  Good notes allows you to either type or write on your device. I use it for journaling, todo lists, etc. I also download all my manuals to it so I can take notes and highlight important sections. I use this app daily. Blue Beacon - My favorite place to get my RV washed. They do a fantastic job, even spraying the undercarriage, and dousing my roof and solar panels. Skydive Montreal South Shore is a Harvest Host location south of Montreal in Farnham, QC. I made a reservation for a night and planned on watching the skydivers while I was there. Before I arrived I decided, what the heck, I might as well jump. I had a few days to think about it and even though I’m am a little afraid of heights, I wasn’t scared of jumping. I watched a YouTube video of Will Smith talking about his first jump. He shared that he was crippled with fear the week leading up to his jump. He said he couldn’t sleep or eat because of that fear. The day of the jump he realized how foolish he had been to be afraid of something that wasn’t going to happen for a week and he had nothing to relate it too so why all the fear. The day of the jump and just before jumping he had no fear.  I didn’t let any fear enter my head and was excited about the jump. I showed up early to the jump site and was prepared mentally for the adventure ahead. I met my instructor and we joked around...

Two years ago today I started my journey as a RV Full-timer/Nomad. I’ve been asked many times why I decided to live this lifestyle.  Well here is the 'short 'story of how it came about. I enjoyed watching Youtube videos about RVing and Sailing for several years. I enjoyed seeing the places people were visiting and how they managed living on the road or on the water.  I also enjoyed learning about the systems/mechanical/technical side of that lifestyle. I thought maybe someday I would like to do that…but I was still working and living in the DC metro area. The time wasn’t right.  When would it be the right time…maybe someday. Well a series of events took place that helped me make my decision to become a nomad. I had a serious injury at work that ended up requiring two neck surgeries (my neck is now fused top to bottom) and shoulder surgery (torn rotator cuff and torn tendon).
